48 billion for climate collapse?

What happens?

The "Stop Fossil Subsidies" campaign is also coming to Munich this time! Save the date for the home game on May 4.
 
We are taking back the streets for an afternoon in the middle of Bavaria's car city and celebrating a colorful, loud and peaceful festival. Together, we'll make a statement against the fossil-fuelled business-as-usual and climate-damaging subsidies. Let everyone know and feel free to bring performances, signs, chalk, speeches and games: From 2 pm at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz.
 
The best way to get there is by bike! So come to the Tour de Klima beforehand, our Critical Mass bike convoy: start at 1 pm at Max-Jospeh-Platz.

Fossil subsidies

Every year, our government subsidises the burning of oil, gas and coal to the tune of more than 48 billion euros. By subsidising fossil fuels, the government is foregoing a lot of money and further fuelling the climate catastrophe. Want some examples?

  • Free allocation of CO2 certificates means that industry does not have to pay anything for some of its CO2 emissions. (€ 9 billion)
  • Flights are subsidised by the energy tax exemption on paraffin. (€ 8.4 billion)
  • Fat SUVs are brought onto the roads through the company car privilege. (~€4.3bn)

All together on the streets!

DISOBEDIENT ASSEMBLY: CONNECTABLE, RESISTANT, ALWAYS PEACEFUL

Everyone can take part, you decide for yourself how resistant you want to be. The assembly must be recognized as such by the police and they are obliged to protect it. Sooner or later they will probably assign us another place, e.g. the sidewalk or Geschwister-Scholl-Platz. People who immediately follow the police's instructions to leave the assembly or, as is likely, to go to the new assembly location they have designated, need not fear any punishment or fines. These people can then continue the demonstration at the newly assigned assembly point.
However, there will also be people who are not prepared to follow the police's instructions. If they leave before the third request, it is possible - especially if there are a lot of them - that the offense will not be prosecuted. People who do not leave even after the third request will probably be taken off the street by the police. It can be assumed that these people will have to pay for being carried away (the price in the past was 80 euros) and will at least be fined. Very important: Our protest always remains peaceful - in what we do and in what and how we say something.

EU campaign United for Climate Justice

413.4 billion euros for fossil fuel subsidies is being spent by the EU while the climate crisis continues to escalate!
2023 was the hottest summer for several thousand years. Eight European countries have experienced the hottest year since weather records began. Yet the EU and governments are not aiming to change course. Subsidizing companies that fuel the climate crisis is irresponsible and criminal - it must stop NOW!
That’s why, inspired by the A12 blockades in the Netherlands, we are joining United for Climate Justice (UCJ) to plan collective action.
We demand that the EU and its member states end all fossil fuel subsidies immediately!
